Jupiter 1-27-2002

First Time out with New Equipment

 This photo was from a series of my very first batch on my first night with with my Nikon Coolpix 990 digital camera coupled to a 20mm Plosll eyepiece and my brand-spanking-new f/15 7" LX-50 Meade Maksutov-Cassegrain Telescope.  Jupiter was my first target ever through my new telescope!

This image was  processed with Corel Photopaint 9 using the Gaussian blur, brightness and contrast.

Time: 1/7/2002 8:40pm PST.  With 20mm eyepiece

Camera set to f/4 400 ASA Focus: infinity, fine resolution with electronic zoom at 4x.  Exposure: 1/4 s

Temperature = 19oF

This is the photo that started my obsession with astrophotography.
